Penny Reed, Ph.D., is currently a private consultant. She has been a teacher, consultant and administrator in the field of special education for more than thirty years. Much of her experience involved working with children with physical and multiple disabilities, which led to her interest in assistive technology. Dr. Reed developed and directed the Wisconsin Assistive Technology Initiative (WATI) from 1993 to 2003. She provides training across the country on a variety of topics related to assistive technology with a special focus on helping school districts improve their delivery of assistive technology services. Dr. Reed is the recipient of several awards for her work including Clinician of the Year from the Oregon Head Injury Foundation and the National Leadership Award from the Technology and Media Division of the Council for Exceptional Children.
